Artifact: GAETC
Georgia Educational Technology Conference, GAETC, demonstrates my continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies. During the fall semester of 2016 I had the opportunity to attend and present at GAETC. My participation in GAETC greatly improved my personal productivity and professional practice as an instructional technology coordinator.
GAETC displays my mastery of continuous learning. During my time at GAETC I was able to participate in several informative sessions that included Google admin, Chrome Extensions, and several sessions on Gamified Professional Learning. By attending GAETC, I was able to grow my professional practice by utilizing current technologies and emerging technologies for application at the district level and for redelivery to teachers. My district is pursuing an incentive based professional learning model for 2017-2018, and the sessions that I attended were very informative, encouraging, and inspiring.
After attending GAETC, I joined a group at our central office to reflect on what we learned from GAETC. I was able to show growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies by modifying gamified professional development from GAETC to fit the needs of my school system. Next time, I will focus on one tool to present instead of several.
GAETC affects faculty development and student learning. There are few opportunities for teachers to be immersed in culture of professional growth and learning. GAETC offers this experience for participants over the course of several days. Attendees are typically teachers, and they can implement high interest and engaging ideas from GAETC straight to the classroom.
