Standard 1.4 - Diffusion of Innovations and Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools. (PSC 1.4/ISTE 1d)
The Action and Evaluation Plan reflects my ability to research, recommend, and implementstrategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovation and managing the change process. The strategies recommendedin this artifact are in line with the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and the International Society for Technology in Educational standards (ISTE).
The plan is divided into five sections : skilled teachers, instructional change, student focused, diversity considerations, and school related. Each section contains information on evaluations, timeline, budgets, and delegated responsibilities that initiateand sustain technology innovations and manage the change process. I can even self-assess by utilizing the success indicators for each section.
The plan uses the information from the SWOT Analysis to address the current status of the shared vision. This artifact demonstrates the importance of implementing a shared vision with fidelity. This allows the Action and Evaluation Plan to not deviate from its intended outcomes and sustain research driven change.
This artifact highlighted the importance of deliberately researching strategies, recommending strategies, creating clear steps for implementation, and developing a plan for sustainability. This plan allowed for me to implement real change in our school system and provide support to teachers on a daily basis for their instructional technology needs. Although I learned a lot from this experience, I would haved like to have had the opportunity to deal with a budget. I have the least amount of experience with purchasing, vendors, and school finance as compared to classroom and technology experience.
Our teachers have benefited the most from this plan. They now have access to instructional technologists on a weekly basis, a huge increase in the number of 1:1 Chromebook classrooms, increased and easier access to digital tools, and a renewed focus on digital citizenship. The impact can be assessed through the teacher sign-in sheets, TKES evaluations, digital footprints, and the increase use of the SAMR model in classrooms across the county.
