Artifacts: Coaching Journal
The Coaching Journal was created for ITEC 7460, the Professional Learning and Technology Innovation Class. It details three coaching sections that I conducted face-to-face and online with individual and groups of teachers. I developed and implemented these technology-based professional learning opportunities to fit the needs of the school and system in addition to alignment with state and national professional learning standards.
The Google Certification Cohort is one of my coaching sessions and was mostly online except for our testing days. It is also aligned with GA and ISTE technology standards. In order to promote best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment, participants would complete monthly assignments towards their Google Certification. At the end of the semester, participants would take the Google Certification test, and we had a 95% pass rate at our last testing session.
This was the first year of the Google Certification Cohort. Because of the online nature of the program, I would do more Google Hangouts throughout the semester to get help for participants. It is hard via email to help troubleshoot issues that teacher may be having.
The work that went into this artifact affect faculty development and school improvement. Teachers in the program that are earning their Google Certification are encouraging others to pursue a certification and are becoming technology leaders in the building by promoting best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment. Because the Google Certified teachers are comfortable in the Google ecosystem, they are being sought out by administrators and teachers that need assistance with instructional technology.
