Artifacts: Individual Teacher Technology Assessment
This artifact, Individual Technology Needs Assessment, was created for ITEC Professional Learning and Technology Innovation. I created the artifact to assess the needs of a teacher that I am coaching, and he completed two questionnaires that were used to assess his LoTi level and adopter level. After the teacher completed the questionnaires, I then conducted an interview with the teacher to discuss the results and create an individualized coaching plan.
This artifact displays my ability to conduct a needs assessment to determine school-wide, faculty, and subject area strengths and weaknesses by creating and administer a needs assessment questionnaire, conducted an interview with a teacher to determine strengths and weakness, and develop a coaching strategy to inform the content and delivery of technology-based professional learning.
After reflecting on this artifact, my ideas on the importance of conducting a needs assessments to determine school-wide, faculty, grade-level, and subject area strengths and weaknesses to inform content and delivery of technology based learning programs were reinforced. It’s important for participants to have their voice heard before, during, and after professional learning. In the future, I would like to record the teacher that I coached, so he could see himself teaching. This is invaluable for him to be able to improve instructional practices and share with others.
This artifact has greatly impacted faculty development. The experience gained from completing this artifact has improved the quality of instruction for the teacher being coached. Many of the strategies used by this teacher have spread school-wide, to the faculty, grade-level, and subject area. In addition, teachers have begun to look at this teacher as a technology leader in instructional technology.
